Purple Pooh

I don’t want to jinx myself (yes, I believe in jinxes), so I’m not going to show off my new house until I’m through the inspection period and the loan is approved. However, I wanted to give everyone a sneak peek of what I’ll (hopefully) be working with. I plan on featuring a new room every couple of weeks.  

The first room has been appropriately dubbed the Purple Pooh Room (haha! makes me laugh everytime). I’m sure you can see why. This room is 1 of the 3 bedrooms in the house and will likely become my office/gym…and by gym I mean having a treadmill.

Lucky for me they did a horrible job hanging the wallpaper border, so it should be easy to remove. My mom pulled that piece loose when we first looked at the house. And yes, the top piece of the closet frame is missing.

Sorry kid, I’m sure you loved this room, but the Purple Pooh has got to go.

Weekend Junk #1

I hate Mondays, but I love seeing all the great treasure everyone found over the weekend. So, I’ve decided to join the fun and start a weekly post featuring my weekend bargains. Check back every Monday for Weekend Junk!

Unfortunately, I’m not starting this feature off with a bang. My finds find this weekend was pretty unimpressive. The only thing I bought was an American Eagle shirt at Savers for $5.99.

Weekend Junk #1 was a bust…sometimes that’s the way the thrift shopping cookie crumbles.

I was planning to start this blog once I actually purchased The Junk House. But I’m not a patient person and I was just too excited to wait any longer.

Bad news: I don’t have any awesome home projects to show off yet…

Good news: You get me a couple months early!

Great news: I beat out multiple offers for the house I wanted! I win!

I got an e-mail this afternoon from my realtor letting me know that they accepted my offer. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m more excited about the house or that I beat out other people for it. Don’t get me wrong, I love that house. But I’m also extremely competitive and love winning. I’m so excited right now I can hardly stand it!

Now fingers crossed that the home inspection goes well...

Hello.

Welcome to The Junk House. I’m new to blogging, so stick with me as I try to figure out what the heck I’m doing. I’ve been creeping reading DIY/decorating blogs for a while now and finally decided to start my own.

An introduction is probably in order: I’m Sam! I moved to Mesa, AZ about 2 years ago for work. I’m currently renting a 1 bedroom apartment, but plan to move into my very first house when my lease is up at the end of March (the clock is tickin’). Soon I hope to have 3 bedrooms/2 baths to call my own.

The only problem is that I have 900 sq ft worth of furniture to fill a ~1500 sq ft house. And let’s be honest, some of that furniture is the same mismatched shiz I’ve had since college. And so, the idea behind The Junk House was born. The plan is to paint, staple, stitch, and hot glue myself a beautiful home filled with “junk”. I’ll be thrifting, craigslisting, dumpster diving, and bargaining for furniture and decorations. I plan to share my journey and awesome finds with you through this blog (it’s still a work in progress, so bear with me). I can’t wait to get started.

Now I just need to find The Junk House…
