Photobooks

It’s already May 21st and I’ve only posted 4 times this month! I didn’t realize I was slacking that much…
The good news is that my last presentation is today and they’ve all gone really well so far. I’m so happy to be almost done – public speaking is one of my biggest fears! In other good news, I’m not sick anymore! It took me out for about a week, but I feel fine now. So, I guess I don’t have any more excuses for not posting!

Today I want to share one of my new favorite things – photobooks! I’m obsessed! I’ve used both MyPublisher and Shutterfly to make books and I’ve been happy with both companies. I should note that I’m in no way affiliated with either company - I just love photobooks.
The first book I made was with pictures from our New Orleans trip.

I used MyPublisher to make this one. When I signed up they were running a special – a free 5.75”x7.75” hardcover book for new customers. So, I only paid $8 (for shipping)! The quality is excellent and I ended up ordering another copy for my mom for Mother’s Day. They have deals all the time, so keep an eye out!   *You do have to download their software to make your photobook.
The next book I made was from all our 2011 pictures.

I used Shutterfly to make this one. I bought a Groupon a few months ago for an 8”x8” hardcover book, but waited until the last day to order it! Sigh… Oh, and don’t judge the quality by my pictures. These are just a printscreen from their site.
Right now, through 5/29, you can get your own free 8”x8” book (just pay shipping) by clicking here or with code 4Y82-D3M9 at checkout (Thanks to The Cents’Able Shopping for finding that deal).

So now I’m obsessed with photobooks! They are a great way to organize and show off your photos. Both are only ½” thick, so they take up way less room than a traditional photo album. I think I’m going to keep an eye out for more deals and start making books out of my older pictures.

Have you made a photobook before? How long does it take you to put one together? It took me 4 hours to make the 2011 one!
Have you tried any other companies? Would you recommend them? I have another Groupon for Mixbook, so we’ll see how they rate.

  1. How fun! I haven't made one before, but think it'd be a great way to remember trips, pregnanices, etc.

  2. These are great - the closest I've got is making calendars for the grandparents with pictures of the boys, I must give this a try at some point, would be great for my parents' upcoming Ruby wedding anniversary.

  3. I keep meaning to do this! I've been wanting to make a photo book for each year because as our family gets older I think it'd be so fun to have the books to look back at previous years. The problem is I keep putting it of and so I feel like whenever I start it I need to go back and make some for every year since my husband and I were married- which now is 9 years. So it feels kind of overwhelming! Your books look so good though that it's making me want to just buckle down and do it!

  4. I love these, they are so cool! I am going to have to check these out, looks like they are so much easier than scrapbooking with all the cutting and glueing of the paper!

  5. Those look great Sam! I made one of these too and I was hooked. I definitely plan to make some for the future. I used mixbook and loved using their tools...very easy. Here is my front cover on my blog:

I can show you the whole thing if you would like sometime. It took me about 10 hours to make because there were so many pictures from the trip I took. Also because I'm way to detailed sometimes.

  7. Ahhh! I love it! I've been thinking about making some of those for my sister when she goes away to college and for my brother when he goes to Europe (!!!) for a semester abroad. I've seen Shutterfly around a lot, which site do you think is best for setting up some photo books?

  8. PS.

I love those Charlaine Harris books. Not the highest quality writing I would say but definitely a fun easy summer read!

  9. Love it! They look so nice! Super cute pages. I've never used MyPublisher before, it looks awesome!!

I also am a photobook junkie! :) I have used shutterfly a few times when they have their free books and they are fine, but not my favorite. I don't like that you can't customize the layout that much.

My all time favorite is Picaboo! You download their software and they have layouts you can use, but you can customize them as much as you want. And they have a lot of different sizes, covers, and finishing options. I made our engagement book and wedding albums for our parents on this site. And if you sign up via friend link you will get a $10 credit (and the friend will too!) Here's my - Picaboo friend link . They often have deals on eversave or groupon or similar sites too! And I totally didn't just mean to write that much, but I just really like them!!! lol
