What’s for Dinner?

Every Sunday afternoon I plan out dinners for the upcoming week. I usually eat out Friday and Saturday, so I usually only have to come up with 5 meal ideas. I write my meal list and a corresponding grocery list on notepads. I’ve been wanting to make a menu board for awhile now and Saturday I finally found the perfect frame! I was hoping to find a cute printable, but all of them have the days of the week listed. I like to give myself choices and decide that night which meal I want to eat.
Here’s the “perfect frame” ( Salvation Army - $1.00):

I spray painted the frame with Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze – Gloss (Wal-Mart only had gloss).

After the paint dried I distressed the details and edges with fine sandpaper.

Next, the usual Minwax Dark Walnut stain treatment: brush on with a foam brush, wipe off with paper towels.

While that dried, I used some scrapbook paper scraps to create the background.

I used stickers to spell out Menu. Yes, I tore the top of the M…I thought it wouldn’t be noticeable….that’ll have to be replaced.

Here’s my finished Menu white board. I used a wire easel from Hobby Lobby to display it. I love how it turned out. I think I just found my color inspiration for the kitchen curtains!

Yes, that's my real menu for the week.

  1. I love it - that looks great! I am going to do something similar with blackboard paint once I get down to that part of my 'to-do' project list!
